Spider Silk & Bioelectronic fibers
Buckle up.
The files are too large to send via email, so please check out the videos in Substack.
Remember when people were wondering what the heck was falling from the sky? 20-30ft long fibers. No one knew what it was, until one professor THEORIZED that it was from spiders “ballooning.” Right.
It wasn’t spider silk. Please refer to links at the end of this post to see the microscopic evaluation of these “fibers.” I think we’re on to something…take a look.
“The technique draws inspiration from spider silk. The team’s synthetic silk is embedded with bioelectronics. The idea is to enable integration of diverse sensing functionalities directly into the material.”
Imperceptible augmentation of living systems with organic bioelectronic fibres
Some more studies worth noting (there are endless resources/references you can explore in each study):
1. An ultra-lightweight design for imperceptible plastic electronics
2. Structural optimization of 3D-printed synthetic spider webs for high strength
3. Zhou, Y. et al. Giant magnetoelastic effect in soft systems for bioelectronics. Nat. Mater. 20, 1670–1676 (2021).
4. Highly stretchable van der Waals thin films for adaptable and breathable electronic membranes
5. Single fibre enables acoustic fabrics via nanometre-scale vibrations
6. Nanobiotechnology approaches for engineering smart plant sensors
7. Electrospinning and Electrospun Nanofibers: Methods, Materials, and Applications
8. Data of "Sustainable and imperceptible augmentation of living structures with organic bioelectronic fibres"

Kat, I was on a call this week that was talking about this stuff. Try pouring DMSO on it. Seems to dissolve it (and hydrogel and other things too). Apparently, they are composted of silicon, to a greater or lesser extent. Also, the high levels of aluminum, as were in your rain samples, can be sweated out of the body (which many might appreciate knowing!). The doctors I've spoken with are suggesting that people sweat, ideally 5 plus times each week, to detox this stuff from our bodies.
I'll pile on with my research on this topic.
